HUANG Yuan-Yu's photographic creation often uses the city as the subject of observation. In the work, Image Quilts – City in the Sky, he combines the common seen buildings in cities in Taiwan using collage techniques. The buildings have been reassembled. The colors are bright, and the buildings stand tall on the ground with unique shapes. There are a lot of iron-clad building materials, illegal buildings, and cluttered advertising billboards, contrasting with the green and blue sky. HUANG Yuan-Yu believes that Taiwan's urban landscape often appeals to the functionality, ignoring the relationship between architecture and environment. He tries to mock architectural phenomenon in Taiwan through a harmonious and conflicting form of beauty.
