CHANG san's ink painting, 64 Circles, contains sixty-four solid circles drawn in light ink on a rice paper. In these solid circles, calligraphy is practiced, and each time a character is written, a new piece of paper is placed over one of the circles. Over the years, the sixty-four circles are the accumulation of ink after countless practices. The fonts he practices are based on seal script, clerical script, and regular script, which all have a more squared structure, making each circle seemingly shows a hidden square structure. In the ink painting, CHANG san incorporates the conceptual thinking of performing art and links it with the philosophical thinking of oriental culture.
