WU Chen-Yu’s work, Another Way to Survive-1, creates a world between the reality and dream, and with a mesmerizing color gradient, it tells a certain state in life. The picture shows an indoor scene of an apartment rented with friends during school. At first, there are a lot of ideal expectations to make the space an artistic base or a space for showcase. However, perhaps due to the increased in comfortability, a special lifestyle is developed in less than two months, composing of various strange, abnormal, or even unrealistic scenarios. The initial enthusiasm is just a talk. In the colorful but flat picture, the characters are distorted and there is blood spatter everywhere, revealing the complete emptiness under the beautiful appearance. WU Chen-Yu records and creates the space and events at that moment from a special viewing perspective using repeatedly overlapping and illusory colors.
