KUO Yu-Ping uses painting, sculpting, and photography to convert personal experiences and history into poetic narratives. For Woman Dancing on the Tomb, the artist converted fantasy elements of her South American trip into images. Each image resembles an extended diary that features grids of different markings, strangely shaped flowers and plants, and moths dancing about the vegetation. To KUO Yu-Ping, this series of paintings serves as a self-portrait conveying personal state of being, and as a secret, personal diary documenting issues of self-identity, desires, fear, and injury.
