SU Kuo-Ching spent many years focusing on creating landscape paintings that feature sights in Taiwan, using dramatic composition to depict Taiwan’s unique geographical and environmental features. Whirlwind depicts a large, roiling cloud and endless slopes. The vertical composition generates a spectacular and powerful visual. The sky was colored purple which is an unnatural hue that nevertheless became SU Kuo-Ching’s personal preference when it comes to color. SU Kuo-Ching’s landscape paintings, like German Romantic style artworks, convey inner emotional worlds every person shares, as well as personal loneliness.
