作品賞析
HUANG Po-Wei uses the human body as a media of artistic presentation to convey the insecurity of life. Toad Like Month is an artwork that uses the moon, water, and toads as the artistic elements as a metaphor for the well-known eastern legends. The composition depicts a round moon surrounded by a churning sea of bizarre colors. One could make out the outline of a toad on the moon, but closer study reveals that the moon, toad, and the surrounding flows of cosmic energy are composed of disassembled parts of the human body. Limbs, torsos, hands, and heads were dissected, divided into portions, and then pieced together to create the image. HUANG Po-Wei dissects and re-assembles the human body to dissolve the original connotation of the human body in an effort to investigate mainstream values and study this world from a different perspective.
