作品賞析
CHANG Jui-Hsien uses portable video recording tools to search for elements and landscapes on the brink of collapse or destruction. A Short Story on Rear-view Mirror in the Bye-bye Blackbird Series is a work inspired by The Song of the Earth by the renowned composer Mahler and was created as a reflection upon the plight of the natural world as a result of boundless human desires and greed. The rear view mirror of the image displays a setting sun and a flight of birds returning to roost, with the yellow color of the reflection on the mirror forming a stark contrast against the dark blue surroundings. CHANG Jui-Hsien believes that people are just temporary visitors in the grand scheme of things, and will eventually disappear in the flowing passage of time. He has continued to collect photographs of outdoor images in an attempt to delay the disappearance of certain sceneries in the context of rapid changes in the external world.
