作品賞析
LIN Guan-Ming is skilled in using video art to convey imaginations and contemplation regarding the act of “seeing”. Never Ever Happened is a video recording taken at some point of time for some reason, some sense of emotion, or for remembrance sake. Videos serve to record a moment of time, but most are forgotten over time, while the recordings began to appear increasingly distant from the original video recorder. LIN Guan-Ming added an extra, diamond-shaped refractive beam to create a sense of distance between the image and the viewer, transforming the video into something extraordinary. The video becomes increasingly blurred with time passing to the point that nothing could be discerned from the screen while the ticking sounds of a countdown timer are played in the background. LIN Guan-Ming uses this work to explore the relationship between videos and personal presence as well as the intangible variability of videos and memories.
