LI Yu-Cheng’s Ruin-Series provides photographs inspired by recent changes to family life and investigates the relationship between the artist and external elements that are based upon images of ruins. Television is Everything photographs a living room provided with a sofa and a television. The TV is a link to a father who only cared for political programs, while the abandoned nature of the room symbolizes deteriorating family values. The weighing balance is a symbolic object within the phenomenon, serving as an analogy of a means for measuring fame and achievement, making things difficult to escape from the inevitable fate of redundancy. LI Yu-Cheng uses the abandoned space and installations to express the powerless reflection and response to how social civilizations define the value of human existence.
