LI Yu-Cheng’s Ruin-Series provides photographs inspired by recent changes to family life and investigates the relationship between the artist and external elements that are based upon ruins and images. Rove Bolder 1 is a photograph of an abandoned military area. The dilapidated walls and dusty floors reflect the history and forgotten state of the place. The weighing balance is a symbolic object within the phenomenon, serving as an analogy of a means for measuring fame and achievement. Just like the ruins displayed in this photograph, it is difficult to escape from the inevitable fate of redundancy. LI Yu-Cheng uses the abandoned state of the ruins as a powerless reflection and response to how social civilizations define the value of human existence.
