LEE Zih-Ching’s sculpture Cloud Top portrays the rapid change in times and technology. Circles and curves are used as the elements of the sculpture to simulate cloud-like shapes. Rigid stone is carved into soft, fluffy clouds extending upwards in an irregular pattern of layers to create a rhythmic harmony. The repeated form of the clouds portrays childhood fantasies and memories while referring to the cloud technology of modern civilization. LEE Zih-Ching uses detailed and gentle forms to portray the tensions and spatial elements of the sculpture, encouraging viewers to reflect upon technological progress and the development of civilization.
