TZENG Yong-Ning has always been choosing ballpoint pens to create brilliantly colored visual artworks inspired by the colors and patterns of natural and traditional crafts from the southern islands. Double Prosperity 10 shows a petal-like composition spreading from the center to cover the entire artwork, generating primal rhythms with its linear patterns. The filigree-like designs remind viewers of the carved designs employed in temple architecture. The highly saturated colors are also linked to the brilliant tones of traditional religious belief. Randomly flowing tones and rhythmic graphics are placed together to form contrasting visuals. TZENG Yong-Ning’s art is an attempt to discuss the unending cycles of rebirth, and the trails created using repeated brush strokes convey the spiritual essence of the ebbs and flows of life.
