LIAO Chun-Li uses reading as a perspective to observe the various facets of urban development. City Reading Series – Red Wall Memory uses a large patch of ocher red to create an old wall surface. The flowing paint and lines serve as trails of time and human activity. Connected to the ocher wall is a patched and moldy concrete surface. These two wall surfaces respectively represent different times, marking cultural and economic changes as well as the joys and sorrows of different times. LIAO Chun-Li observes and reads these different facets, guiding us to a meditative pose to better experience our surroundings by using an artwork that conveys urban memories of different backgrounds and times.
