CHANG Yu-Ya’s panel artwork Asylum Daydream presents a spiritual experience on personal existence. A regular, geometric background pattern is generated using red and blue triangles to build a somber and serene atmosphere. Two blue patches, appearing like amoebic organisms from the dream world, swim lazily within the artist’s sub-consciousness. The graduating colors created by the wooden grains and patterns emulate the natural fluidity of thought, while several little yellow-colored shapes and fine, red colored tendrils like biological feelers decorate various parts of the composition. Dynamic lines and shapes are also used to convey a mental map of CHANG Yu-Ya’s spiritual emotions.
