HUANG Hai-Hsin’s artwork portrays oddities of modern, everyday life, and hides various deviant and oddly stereotypical values of society in an attempt to emphasize the meaningless nature of life in an era of comfort. Field trip features an oddly colored and flat space. A landscape painting of Mount Fuji is hanging unnaturally on the wall while artificial potted plants are placed on the floor. A few children dressed for a field trip are shown standing, using disproportionate hands to cover each other’s faces, smiling as they practice the sensations of being tormented. HUANG Hai-Hsin’s works provide a nonsensical yet realistic portrayal that interpret the state of inner and psychological consciousness of people living in modern times.
