LIU Mei-Ling combined ink painting with daily objects, and uses the concept of movable type printing to print objects of varying textures to generate unique visuals. To create The Imprint of New York 2, LIU Mei-Ling collected industrial packaging materials and recycled objects during her artist-in-residency in New York, reassembling them and pressing them against the canvas to form an imprint with unique textures. This collision of visual brush strokes imparts a powerful surge of energy into the composition. LIU Mei-Ling used materials to create a peculiar pattern to link materialism and spirituality. The artist hopes that her familiar yet unrecognizable composition is able to help viewers connect to their past and sharpen their observations and exchanges with their surroundings.
