CHEN Chih-Ho’s For the Afternoon Dream in the Morning is part of the Vanishing Décor series. The picture shows Guangfu New Village in Wufeng, conveying disappearing people, objectives, and places while serving as a means to materialize personal emotions. The image shows a dilapidated wooden house surrounded by a corrugated metal fence. The roof and outer walls of the house were overgrown with vines, while a child’s chair is left abandoned on a road covered by leaf litter. A cloud was placed within the image, floating above the metal fence in order to add a sense of sweetness to the composition. Photography and image processing were used by the artist in order to recreate memories and emotions that relate to the military dependents’ villages.
