CHANG Chung-Liang’s photographs are great examples of an attempt to explore the temporal and spatial features of images that successfully convey the living experiences in different spaces. “The Transparent and Mirrored of the Window” No.8, the Night of Paris St Michel shows an assembly of images taken in the same space at different times and perspectives to create a montage with a rich narrative and a sense of flowing time. The image shows a woman standing alone by the window that reveals a moonlit night at the Left Bank of Paris. The woman’s melancholic expression from her reflection in the mirror evokes a sense of nostalgia. CHANG Chung-Liang created a diary-like montage of images in order to convey the sense of homesickness experienced after extended periods of travel.
