作品賞析
HUANG Wei-Sheng uses photography to create historical documentary records of near-forgotten industries in Taiwan such as coal mining. Black Gold Miners 1992 (3) shows a few old railway tracks crossing an overgrown valley, with the mine entrance at the end of the line. A person wearing a typical worker’s clothing and bamboo hat stands on a coal trolley to leave the mountains. Taiwan’s coal industry started to grow in the 1900s, but has largely disappeared by now, with only a few operational mines today.
