Pan Wen-Chu has spent over 30 years in Lanyu Island since the 1980s to document the traditional rites of Lanyu Island and captured images of everyday life of the marine and indigenous culture of the Tao People. His works conveyed a powerful sense of rustic sincerity. Anito Banishment is a black and white photograph that captures a moment in the life of the Tao people. Men in traditional thongs are shown half-squatting in the sea. Their powerful musculature and clenched fists highlight the courageous spirit of these warriors.
