HU Shu-Han uses a changing vocabulary to create abstract works with personal styles to convey the dwindling nature of life and time. Insect Realm is an observation of biological evolution that is translated into an abstract language. The composition is an assemblage of papers painted over with different colors to form an ever-changing structure. The jointed body forms of insects were adopted as artistic elements. Sickle-like brushstrokes were then scattered across the screen. The edges of paper montages were slightly singed to create irregular borders, adding to the poetic nature of the entire composition.
