CHEN Guan-Jing’s ink paintings are observations of daily meals that were transformed into the likeness of miniature bonsai-like landscapes in an attempt to create a new imaginative perspective on food and inspire awareness and support for the natural environment. If There is Such a Place shows a paradise-like mountainous island floating upon a pink-hued land. Closer inspection revealed the island to be a plate full of shaved ice. Molten waters are transformed into rivers while Chinese pavilions and gazebos decorate the various peaks. Puffs of cloud swirl around the dessert, creating a natural and comfortable shelter for storks and deities alike.
