CHEN Guan-Jing’s ink paintings are observations of daily meals that were transformed into the likeness of miniature bonsai-like landscapes in an attempt to create a new imaginative perspective on food and inspire awareness and support for the natural environment. Dango shows paradise-like islets located within a pink-hued landscape. Closer inspection revealed that the islets are composed of colored glutinous rice balls embellished with a Chinese garden complete with bridges, brooks, and pavilions. Puffs of heavenly clouds float around the islets, forming a habitat for storks that live within.
