SHIH Chih-Han’s Family Reunion Dinner is an attempt to symbolize the absence of family gatherings from our modern lifestyle. A large round table, covered with a red colored tablecloth, dominates the center of the picture. The table is laden with plenty of food, but every important family member is missing. In Eastern societies, red represents fortune and joy, while the round circle represents togetherness. Contrasted against these positive elements are the lonesome chair and the dark blue background. SHIH Chih-Han used a dinner table as a symbol to convey the disappearance of family gatherings and rekindle emotions related to the family.
