KUAN Meng-Hsuan believes that zoos are like a fantasy circus that projects the state of modern life. Zoo Animals #12, 13, 14, 15, 16 is composed of 5 panels of illustrations that projects animal experiences of zoos into human environments, and how different animals such as ocelots, bears, water buffaloes, and elephants fare in these man-made settings. Animals were placed in their settings as though they’ve been cut out from another picture, creating a metaphor of their forced presence in an unnatural environment.
