HUANG Hua-Chen’s works portray relationships between nature and people while communicating emotions and the sense of belonging. The Summer is composed of two panels. The left shows the deep, unfathomable darkness of the universe where planets dangle within like jewels. The right panel shows the back of an unclothed man with his head bowed as he studies the uneven surfaces of a brightly colored sea. Though seemingly contradictory, the panels seem to be holding a natural dialog. HUANG Hua-Chen attempted to use art as a tool to investigate the experience of life as one ages, to convey the emotional warmth when people come together and leave, and to generate an atmosphere of gentleness and simplicity.
