HUANG Chi-Lung is a skilled oil painter and enjoys using color patches to convey his emotional interpretations. His works are also affected by the boldly colored aspects of Fauvism as well as the freedom espoused by Abstract Expressionism, weaving back and forth between figurative and abstract approaches while demonstrating his mastery in using overlapping color patches and emotional presentations. Pastoral Visions is filled with buildings of different colors and shapes stacked upon each other to create a trail that allows one to ascend the mountain. HUANG Chi-Lung has expressed different imageries in a collection of free-flowing architectural outlines. Small, intact rectangular color blocks that may serve as windows, lights, or flags have been added to serve as a collage, giving the viewer the freedom to interpret the work in multiple ways.
