Almost every single piece of YU Wen-Fu’s works focuses on the white flight feathers of birds, symbolizing his desire for freedom and flight. In The Artistic Scene of Chinese Landscape in the Feathers No.4, the artist attempts to introduce physical imageries of feathers in traditional Chinese Shanshui Paintings, adding 3D elements to an otherwise 2D composition as well as establishing a new artistic interface by introducing new definitions to conventional art styles. Snowy white feathers and bamboo like feather shafts serve to heighten the atmosphere of traditional Chinese literary gentry. These imageries emphasize the link between Heaven and Men as well as the natural visages of Shanshui artworks. By incorporating the 3D approaches of installation and spatial art within 2D works, YU Wen-Fu has established an elegant extension of artistic space and created a small installation art growing from the canvas itself.
