LEE Yi-Ting creates a canvas that overlaps virtual and realistic worlds to refine her deepest memories and to condense her most personal and emotional moments as well as everyday contemplation. In Running Girl 01, a base of overlapping colors was used to present a story-like landscape. Straight lines partition the plains, setting sun, gardens, and meadows beyond the wall. A girl runs amongst these scenes, leaping out from her enclosed world to the freedom outside, an image that directly invokes the artist’s personal emotions. In this work, LEE Yi-Ting made use of varying color tensions, color combinations, and linear spatial separation to depict a semi-virtual world that incorporates her surroundings and her inner worlds.
