HUANG Chun-Hao’s works are filled with mechanical and science-fiction ideas. Machine-03 depicts a floating life form composed of many minute mechanical units, like the “Matrix” of the machine world shown in the movies that is also composed of a legion of tiny robots. There is no individuality. Every nameless component and part is controlled by an unpredictable and unfathomable force. Despite lacking in consciousness, all these parts have come together to establish a single and unique group consciousness of extreme power. By creating a conglomeration of tiny devices joined together in a complex assemblage, HUANG Chun-Hao was able to express his personal love for mechanical objects and use his artwork as a metaphor for social and human relationship and a rational contemplation to the meaning of co-existence and mutualism.
