WANG Mei-Ling believes that color comes from inherited memory and that our unique lives are based upon the set of genes we have inherited from our parents. Cloud is based upon natural winds and clouds and conveys their lack of material form. The base of the artwork is coated with light and transparent cyan, jaune, pink, and milk white shades, topped off by thick but broken patches of blue, white, and red. The colors do overlap, but only in an orderly fashion, as though capturing the moment when cloud and wind meets each other, intangible yet described in a myriad of colors. WANG Mei-Ling believes that clouds represent opportunities we encounter in our lives, brilliant but transient. As time goes by, we are reminded to be content with what we own to preserve moments of beauty and happiness.
