作品賞析
CHIU Kuo-Chun has combined photography with traditional Taiwanese embroidery and hopes to initiate a dialog between photography and religious themes and explore the unique relationship between Taiwanese people and the gods. In the Appointed God 1, the very title is synonymous with “dazed confusion” as well as “moving gods.” CHIU Kuo-Chun has captured a moment from a regular religious festival and added traditional embroidery to the resulting photograph, hoping to use the brilliance of embroidery to highlight the actual desolation observed within the photograph. CHIU Kuo-Chun attempts to use this series of work to reflect people’s uncertainty, weakness, or desires in the actual world and how they can turn to religion for solace. Hence, the intended purpose of this work is to reflect religion as a mirror of human desire and state of mind.
