Gifted at creating three-dimensional compositions on flat canvas, SYU Tang-Wei is an artist who has switched from architecture to the fine arts. Philosopher’s Stone in Motion displays objects of different shapes, attached to each other and floating in space. Wayward lump-like forms, like flowing mist, symbolize the transmutation of matter, the artist’s imagining of alchemy. Syu fuses elements of mechanical parts to create a complex picture, inviting the viewer to enter the whimsical world of his mind.
