作品賞析
During his studies in Pingtung, artist LAI Yi-Jhih was deeply affected by the sight of tangles of crisscrossing pipes in the coastal areas. This led to turning point in his efforts photographing the appearance of Taiwan’s small town and rural settings. In The Space Document 5, Lai uses digital postproduction to duplicate, transform and reassemble an image he photographed at the site, reinterpreting local environmental problems with a visualized vocabulary. In the picture, countless manmade pipes form a black-hole-like image, giving us the sense darkness, envelopment and devouring, and inspiring us to rethink of the connection between mankind and the local environment. This piece implies human reflection and concern about the environment. Lai creates a metaphorical critique of the land he loves in an aesthetic way.
