Artwork Appreciation
HUANG Po-Hsun’s Fireworks is a standalone work composed of black, gray, and white color patches. The composition uses semi-spontaneous techniques, allowing paint to collide with each other to generate random effects. Flowing paint of splashed ink decorated with white dots and lines generate natural star-like forms within an alien space filled with chaos. To Huang Po-Hsun, if black represents the absence of color, gray would be the neutral tone between the extremes of black and white, used to represent the emptiness of the Universe and its accommodation of infinite possibilities. HUANG Po-Hsun successfully used a rich selection of art techniques as he leads viewers into a colorless world filled with beauty, mystery, and deep secrets.
