Artwork Appreciation
In Summoning the Ultimate Beauty, artist WANG Ding-Ye places insects on a transparent mount and photograph their diverse appearances. In the image, details of the insects’ postures, structures and patterns are visible at a glance; they look as if they are alive. Each creature in the world has its own way of following the course of life. By means of photography, Wang examines the link between images we see and those stored in our memories, such as how animated images of fluttering butterflies and buzzing insects fill our minds when we view the static images of these insects.
