作品賞析
The buildings lining Taiwan’s streets often have additions due to the owners’ living needs, and these freely growing apartment buildings have become a source of inspiration for artist Chen Ming-Te. His work Hanxi Street II is based on his observations of Hanxi Street in Taichung. Chen Ming-Te used acrylic and oil paints against a clean background to depict the basic appearance of the buildings. He then used copper bars, wooden strips and other media to create the added house structure or plants, showing that the buildings on the streets of Taiwan are like organisms, constantly growing outward into a unique urban landscape. The artist believes that “everyone is unique because of their own ideas.” Therefore, Chen Ming-Te’s creations do not focus on representing or replicating the scenery he sees, but instead focus on using media and works to convey his personal feelings and present the daily lives of ordinary people in Taiwan.
