Artist Wang Chung-Kun specializes in the creation of sound art and powered mechanical devices; his works in sound have “musicality.” His work Field-2023-x3 is a sound sculpture. It looks like three flagpoles, but each has a seesaw-like structure. The long side of each crossbar has a large fan blade made of paper folded in half; a long wire is attached near the base of the crossbar’s short side, and at the end of the wire hangs a bell just above the top of the base on the floor. On this base, there is a copper ring with an embedded luminous device. When the wind blows, the fan blades will flutter with the wind, and the bells will swing accordingly, striking the copper rings, making crisp, sweet sounds; the copper rings will also glow with a warm shimmer. For the viewer standing among them, the swinging fan blades, shimmering light, and crisp sounds mingle with each other. The artist hopes to let people feel the invisible wind currents and create a rich, gentle experience.
