This video uses a first-person perspective, taking the audience to climb Qixing Mountain with the aim of exploring the legend of the Ketagalan pyramid there. The film focuses mainly on the natural landscape in the mountains. Artist Mao Yo-Wen also superimposed characters or texts in the form of animated special effects relating to the history of the Ketagalan people, and symbolize that history really happened on this land. They let the viewer feel how the present is intertwined with the past. Such a pursuit beyond the “official history” is the “exceptional state” of history. To emphasize the diversity and fragmentation of history, he let the film become an unsystematic database, turning narration, text, atonal guitar soundtrack, and other elements into individual materials, each of which was then randomly reorganized into fragments through a program; these were subsequently compiled into a video. This approach symbolizes history’s multiple aspects, highlighting that the “historical facts” seen by various people, shaped by their different perspectives, cannot fully capture the entirety of history.
