作品賞析
Artist Pan Yi-Kai’s works are like fields for biological experiments. He is fascinated by the relationship between anatomy, species deformation, and mechanical parts. When creating, he plays multiple roles: a gardener, a collector of rare plants, and a creator of species. Pan Yi-Kai dissected and grafted plants according to his own aesthetic sense to create a science fiction-like botanical paradise. His Grafting Garden II uses the techniques of paper gravure, and the monochrome treatment makes the texture more intriguing. The plant shapes may come from ancient plant illustrations, or from rare, precious plants that he has collected. They are arranged in special pots. The cut sections of the plants are clearly visible, and some of the wounds are bandaged. The background looks like an unfolded cardboard box, with tiny, delicate rock landscapes depicted on it. Overall, the space is like a carefully designed specimen box, where life depends entirely on the meticulous craftsmanship of its Creator.
