Artist Chang Chun-Yi, an artist who loves photography, has extensive experience in online curation, and her work Wooden Horses is an extension of her online solo exhibition, “Yiri’s Horse Farm.” She gradually began to realize the importance of the fact that before the invention of automobiles, horses were the most relied upon human means of transportation, so she began to use horses as a theme for a variety of different creations, including curated projects, sculptures, videos, and so on. These nine rocking horses were originally a single moving image. She converted the image into a vector image, using Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), and used it as a sketch for creating these nine black solid wooden horses. To her, horses are like the ballet dancers of Degas’ paintings. Although horses are her theme, she is not dealing with horses per se but with issues in the area of art theory and artistic technique. Through her works, she proposes to viewers the possibility of virtual and physical exhibitions coexisting in parallel with each other.
