作品賞析
The artist Kao An-Bo, who grew up amid forests and mountains, is very concerned about the mythology and ghost legends of these mountains. He also wonders what the “souls” of the mountains are. To fully visualize the mountains’ inner worlds, he often hikes into the mountains and their forests to paint. As he climbs, he gradually changes the way he depicts them. As the length of the climb gets longer, the body becomes more fatigued, and the mind reaches a point at which a kind of vague fugue state begins to emerge. At this time, the mountains and forests seem different from the way they usually are, and they appear deeper and clearer. When he becomes attuned to the forest, the roles of observer and observed are exchanged. After doing this repeatedly, he felt that he was gradually able to capture the “life” of the mountains, transforming what he sees, hears, and feels into the brushstrokes and colors of his paintings. The traces of Kao An-Bo’s travels in the mountains and forests are thus concealed in every detail.
