Artist Huang Ko-Wei used acrylic paint to create Oasis. Huang did away with the depiction of detail and instead used fast, large brushstrokes that emphasize the paths left in the painting process and preserve the traces of erasure. Lines and color blocks are retained in the composition without embellishment. The forms are very clear from a distance, but when viewed up close, they turn into chaotic lines. In addition, Huang mixed the acrylic paint with water to create different consistencies, layering effects, and sense of flow to the paint. Green and purple dominate the palette, reducing color interference and highlighting the contrast between light and dark, thus giving the work a sense of mystery, as in a black-and-white painting. Lush tropical plants surround the peacefully resting figures in the center of the picture, bringing the viewers into a strange, unrealistic world.
