Days of Stargazing is based on a scene that the artist Chiu Yi-Ning sees in her daily life. Through a stone wall made with large and small round stones, she looks out on a scene of sheet metal buildings and factories. For Chiu, a wall can create a sense of security as you look out on things that are separated from you, so it has become an important creative element for her, just like stone. The stone wall in the foreground and the distant view of the night sky dotted with starts creates a vast sense of space, and the middle ground of the scene is also full of large and small stones. However, these are depicted with wetter strokes with blurry edges, unlike the stones of the wall in the foreground, which are outlined with clear lines. The overall composition has a tranquil mood. Rising white smoke reflects the passage of time, but it also hints at a loneliness that cannot be described to others, only expressed to the stars in the night sky.
