作品賞析

The artist Shao Tsung-Chieh gets inspiration from many unfinished skeletal frameworks and parts near at hand: “Life’s true appearance comes through many seemingly unfinished and fragmented experiences.” He concretized his understanding in the work Experience. At the center of it is an asymmetric human face composed most noticeably of eyes and cheeks, with small square or cylindrical wooden blocks attached. This gives the work a complex, chaotic feeling. The upper part of the face is reddish-purple flat piece that resembles not only hair but also a steadily rising flame. The greenish drooping parts below the face are a metaphor for the sweat and tears created through experience, while the wooden framework supporting the head seems simple and unfinished. The “movement” of the piece thus goes from simple below to complex above, which parallels what happens as one accumulates experience.
