作品賞析
If one day the earth faces ecological catastrophe, what kind of new species will evolve in an extremely harsh environment? Lin Shih-Chih’s work The Exotic World no. 13 is based on a nautilus, but one that is combined with artificial intelligence and waste to create a new species. He fired the hard shell of the Nautilus out of ceramics and embedded it into a circuit board. The base is made of a motorcycle sprocket, the flexible metal tentacles are made of motorcycle chains, and the ends of the tentacles are magnetic, so they can absorb the metal tissue on the body of its prey. Lin used high-temperature arc welding to successfully “bake” the clay and metal together. The theme of Lin’s works revolves around the relationship between human beings and nature. In his imaginary world, the food chain is completely reversed, and human beings become insignificant sea creatures who can find themselves struggling in the tentacles of a nautilus before getting swallowed.
