作品賞析
Huang Yan-jun, an artist who is familiar with the medium of red copper, expands upon the properties of copper wire—hard yet malleable—to allude to the intricate give-and-take of social activities. From this he developed his “Hardness and Softness” series. In this series he uses different animals and postures to express features of relationships. He created Hardness and Softness – Gorilla using his unique techniques. Gorillas have social lives much like humans do, so he turned the gorilla’s soft fur into sharp cactus-like needles, representing the individual’s will for “self-defense.” The gorilla’s raised arm from a bent-forward posture show hesitation, in a way similar to that of people in the complex position of having to maintain themselves and take care of others around them before each social response.
