Chen Ruo Yun’s works mainly explore issues of the Information Age, and the way people often present themselves through numbers or digital data when digital tools are widely used. She believes that the Pokémon game boom was a phenomenon in which reality and the virtual world became convertible, since players needed to catch virtual Pokémon in the real world. Therefore, in her Sunset Platform, she paints simulated heat-sensing images of a large group of people—who are crazy about catching treasures. It seems that this was a popular place to catch treasure at the height of that craze. Through the subjective selection and use of colors, a chaotic, sticky feeling is expressed, and a perceptual image created, as the viewers’ sensibility and feelings are brought into the imaginary world beyond the digital data.
