作品賞析
Lu Jyun-han has used the scenery of Hualien as the main subject of his artwork for many years. One day, the small island situated at the mouth of the Xiugulan River caught his attention. The isolated plants and creatures on this island, living independently from the rest of the world, were like an isolated tribe. It turns out that the name of this small island, Xibolan, means “at the mouth of the sea” in the Ami language. He first preserved the island’s original shape with a “silhouette,” then used color blocks with various patterns to piece together the shapes of the rocks, including plant shapes, in order to present his own mental fantasy of the island scenery. The geometric color blocks not only enrich the brilliance of the picture, but also give it a flat visual effect. The lively white clouds above provide a stark contrast to the quiet, regular sea ripples in front of the island. As the sea and sky firmly frame the island, viewers are naturally drawn to it, and will always linger and gaze at it.
