A Circuit of Ideal Constructing Process

Zheng Wen-Hao often rides his scooter, looking for abandoned, ready-made objects and creative inspiration. In his work As a Circuit of an Ideal Living State, Zheng uses an urban construction site to think about the ideal living space and its relationship with reality. The realistically reduced-scale construction site model before you is still no more than scaffolding, wrapped up to make it seem the building is already being built. Just as contractors often do, a huge sign is hung from the scaffolding, with the word “Daydream” on a gray background. The surrounding steel fence is already covered with rust. Positive and negative words appear in alternation in the moving image. Architectural “models” usually evoke the imagination of a beautiful future, but the model in this work presents an alternate urban center, a desolate one, and it also makes us think: What is the ideal living condition?
